On paper, a fight between weedy Chris Brown and emotionless terminator Rihanna would only have one result - with Chris Brown’s head ending up on a metal spike.

In reality, though, it might be a different matter, what with Chris Brown’s arrest for allegedly beating up Rihanna until she was hospitalised and all. Worse still, it’s being reported that Rihanna claims that this isn’t the first time that Chris Brown has attacked her.

Honestly, if this is true then Chris Brown should pick on someone his own size. Like a gerbil, for instance. Or a hobbit. Or fun-sized Mars bar.

Men of the world, feel free to rejoice. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and it doesn’t matter what you’ve done to your girlfriend - forgot her birthday, chatted up her sister, crapped with the bathroom door open - you’re almost guaranteed to be a better boyfriend than Chris Brown, on account of you not having been arrested on suspicion of choking your loved one until she fell into unconsciousness and then legging it. It’s a small victory, admittedly, but it still counts.

However, let’s not be too hard on Chris Brown. After all, his stylist thinks he’s a lovely boy - plus, as one of our commenters has kindly pointed out, “MAN….. I DONT KNOW Y ALL Y’LL POEPLE IS MAD @ HIM 4??? SHE IS THE ONE WHO GAVE HIM SOMETHIN SO SHE GOT WHAT SHE GOT… I ANIT MAN @ HOM @ ALL…. HE GONNA KEEP IT PIMPIN AND DO WHAT HE DO SOooooooo… ya’ll need to leave him alone!!!!” which we think means it’s OK to hit women if they’re being arseholes to you. And there’s no arguing with flawless prose like that, really.

And anyway, maybe Chris Brown’s alleged assault of Rihanna was just a sickening one-off, a mistake made in the heat of the moment that was completely out of character and one that he regrets profoundly. Except that Rihanna reportedly says it wasn’t. ABC News reports:

"If Chris Brown did indeed hit Rihanna early Sunday morning, it may not have been the first time. According to TMZ.com, the pop star told cops that her R&B singer boyfriend had a history of abusing her before a weekend attack that reportedly left her bruised and bloodied, and the violence was getting progressively worse."

If this is true, then we’re not sure why Rihanna chose to stay with Chris Brown. There are many complex psychological reasons why a woman will stick with an abusive partner, but in this case we think that Rihanna just realised that allegedly being smacked in the face time and time again by Chris Brown was still better than anything she did with her previous boyfriend Shia LaBeouf.

Of course, though, looking back at her most recent album, it’s clear that Rihanna was desperately trying to warn us of her predicament. Look at what she called some of her songs - Cry, Hate That I Love You, Shut Up And Drive, (Please Stop Repeatedly Smacking Me In The Cheekbone With That) Umbrella, (While I’m On The Subject, Could You Also Please Refrain From) Breakin’ Dishes (Over My Head All The Time)… if only we’d been paying more attention, none of this would have ever happened.



Rihanna Tells Cops Chris Brown Threatened To Kill Her

The expression “I’m going to kill you” is definitely overused. We’re all guilty of saying it at some time or another when angry with a person. But when the other person involved winds up in the hospital, it’s another story altogether.

Yesterday the DA asked detectives to get more info for their case against Chris Brown. And the details they found are quite disturbing.

Rihanna has been talking to the cops this whole time, and according to them, she’s being cooperative.

According to E! News, Rihanna told the police Chris choked her while threatening to kill her. That caused her to lose consciousness. The two had just left Clive Davis’ Grammy party on Saturday night in Chris/ Lamborghini. That’s when everything fell apart.

Chris pulled his car over in the Hancock Park area of LA, which is when Rihanna says she took the keys out of the ignition and tossed them out the window.

She says Chris then tried to go out and find the keys, and when he couldn’t, he put his hands around her neck and said, “I’m going to kill you!”

Rihanna says that she lost consciousness, and that when she came to, Chris had already left! Some boyfriend he is! Rihanna’s right eye was allegedly blackened and badly swollen and she had handprints on her arms.

The responding officers were so concerned about her, they drove Rihanna to the hospital in their squad car instead of waiting for an ambulance. Officers took two sets of photos of Rihanna: one at the scene and the second after she was admitted to Cedars-Sinai for treatment. Those pictures will most likely be used for evidence against Chris.

And speaking of Chris, we haven’t heard much from his camp since he was released from jail on Sunday night. We’re expecting a statement from his lawyer Mark Geragos or his publicist soon!

He can’t just run away from this situation that keeps sounding more and more serious!

Meanwhile, Chris Brown’s sister Lytrell Bundy, or Tootie as she’s called, has just spoken to Extra about her brother claiming he's never been the violent type.

She says he’s never been one to get in fights. She tells them, "He's always been a good boy -- never violent.”

When asked about how Chris is dealing with his arrest and the fallout, Tootie confesses, "He's doing good. He's coping... He's doing as... as to be expected."

When asked about the siblings' childhood together, Tootie says, "It was a normal sister and brother relationship. Nothing different, nothing strange."



Rihanna and Chris Brown Argument Was Over Infidelity

There are new details surrounding Chris Brown and Rihanna's alleged argument the night he was arrested for felony battery charge.

New reports suggest that the argument between the couple started when Chris got a phone call from a young lady after him and Rihanna left the Clive Davis party.

"Rihanna got a glimpse of the phone, saw the name and number and immediately recognized who it was. She went ballistic and began to “beat the sh*t” out of Chris (while driving).

"She was so uncontrollable, that Chris began to fight back in self defense, which ensued the fight," reports Bossip.

Regardless of who started the argument, there's no excuse for domestic violence! Tons of couples argue over infidelity every day, it doesn't mean it should result in a trip to the ER.

Meanwhile, Rihanna's grandmother has spoken out about the incident to the Barbados' Daily Nation newspaper. "I don't want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well," Clara Brathwaite said.

She denied claims by some media outlets that Rihanna had a broken nose. Her family is currently making arrangements for her to return to Barbados to recover. Sources tell Hollyscoop exclusively that Chris Brown has fled to Virginia and is currently staying with his family.

New details have emerged about the midnight altercation between Chris Brown and Rihanna that led to Brown being booked on a felony criminal threat charge on Sunday.

"Chris knocked her around," a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. "Black eye, blood, bruises. She had to be treated by a doctor."

A police source confirms to PEOPLE that the singer suffered a black eye as well as "a swollen split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead."

The source, who described police photos of Rihanna, added, "She looked distraught and in a lot of pain. Her eyes were closed because she was looking down."

The Barbados-bred beauty, 20 – who is currently in "a safe place," says a friend – is cooperating with detectives, according to the Los Angeles Times. Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton has said he expects the case will be handed over to the district attorney's office on Tuesday or Wednesday. At that time, the prosecutors could charge Brown, 19, with more crimes.

The case could be affected by how much Rihanna is willing to forgive her boyfriend. "Prosecutors back off somewhat when they see a couple trying to work out their own issues," says Steve Sitkoff, an L.A. defense attorney. But, says the friend, "I would be so sad if she went back to him."

In the meantime, both stars have canceled upcoming appearances: The NBA has issued a statement that Brown will no longer participate in their All-Star Game events in Phoenix this weekend, while Rihanna backed out of a Friday night concert in Malaysia.



Rihanna: Bloody and Bruised from Incident

More and more details surrounding the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident are being leaked onto the press.

According to new reports, Rihanna's injuries were severe and that she suffered two "huge contusions" which swelled up on both sides of her forehead. She also reportedly suffered "a bloody lip and nose," reports TMZ.

One of the law enforcement people described the contusions as something that "looked like an MMA fighter or something ... [It] looked like she was growing devil's horns."

Earlier reports suggested that Rihanna also suffered from bruises on her arms and face as well as bite marks on her arm and leg. At this point Chris Brown is making Ike Turner look good. It's so sad!

UPDATE:
According to a source close to the investigation, Rihanna made the 911 call to police after Brown "fled on foot" from the scene following the attack.

Officers found Rihanna in his rented silver Lamborghini "beaten really badly and hysterical."

Brown had taken the keys to the car with him and Rihanna was basically left on the side of the road with the car, so she called the police for help.

When officers arrived at the scene they said she had "visible injuries" so they took her to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment.

Marc Anthony was quick to squelch rumors about trouble in paradise - or at least, Brookville - after a celebrity magazine reported his marriage to Jennifer Lopez was at a "breaking point."

"They are doing great," a spokeswoman for Anthony said yesterday, after reports surfaced that the singer was flirting with a woman at two New York City nightspots earlier this month.

"Any comments implying that they are having problems and that Marc behaved in a questionable manner while out with friends last week are absolutely false," Anthony spokeswoman Blanca Lasalle told Newsday.

A spokeswoman for Lopez echoed Anthony's reprise, saying: "They are fine."

The hullabaloo began when Us magazine posted a story online yesterday noting that Lopez attended a movie premiere without her 8-carat diamond engagement ring, her wedding band - or, for that matter, her husband.

Anthony, meanwhile, was reportedly seen in Las Vegas a week earlier, without his wedding band.

"They both didn't wear their rings on purpose," the magazine says, quoting a "mutual pal" of the couple. "Nothing Jennifer does is without purpose."

Lopez and Anthony, the parents of 10-month-old twins, renewed their vows in October. They have been married four years.

"He's very, very controlling of her," a close Anthony pal told Us. "The skirts aren't as short. You don't see so much of that booty anymore." The magazine also reports that Anthony also picks out Lopez's clothes and keeps tabs on her phone calls.

But Lopez - who once claimed she "loved getting his opinions" - has become less interested in his approval since the birth of their twins, Max and Emme, the magazine said.

"She walks in from work, washes her hands and grabs the babies," a "longtime friend" told Us. "With him, it's almost like, 'Ugh, they're crying again?'"

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony took a break from diaper duty with twins Max and Emme Tuesday night, when they opted for a romantic, adult dinner at Andrew Hewitt's new Pacific-Rim-inspired Beverly Hills restaurant, Luau.

The couple – the subject of recent rumors about their state of their marriage – snuggled together in a booth, feeding one another Kobe meatballs and enjoying tamarind-glazed ribs, as well as each other's company, if their kisses were any indication.

Lopez, sipping an apple martini, and Anthony, drinking beer, "looked genuinely in love," observed one diner.

Also adding to the festive atmosphere: a fellow patron's toddler, who sprinted the Anthonys – who couldn't help but fawn over the child.

Still to come was dessert, coconut tiramisu and chocolate lava cake, which the happy couple shared.

As for reports the couple have been seen out and about without each other, says Marc's rep, Blanca Lasalle, "They are doing great. [These] are fabricated stories. They are together. He had a boys night out. She had a girls night out. There is nothing wrong with that."

NEW YORK, December 17 (UPI) -- The marriage of U.S. singer-actress Jennifer Lopez and her recording artist husband Marc Anthony is at the breaking point, sources told Us Weekly.

Lopez and Anthony, who wed four years ago and are the parents of 10-month-old twins, have been attending functions solo and aren't wearing their wedding rings, Us magazine reported on its Web site.

"They both didn't wear their rings on purpose," Us quoted a friend as saying. "Nothing Jennifer does is without purpose."

The two are also said to have had a tense Thanksgiving in which they didn't sit together and barely spoke to each other.

Friends claim Anthony is controlling and that Lopez blames him for her career taking a nosedive.

"Jennifer looked around and said, 'This is my life now? I'm a Long Island housewife?'" a source close to Lopez told the magazine. "She hates that everything she worked for went down the tubes."

Anthony's publicist maintains, however, that the couple is doing fine, Us said.

Actress-singer Jennifer Lopez has listed her French farmhouse estate in Bel-Air at $8.5 million. J-Lo, her singer husband, Marc Anthony, and their 9-month-old fraternal twins have been the subject of ongoing sightings in the Long Island community of Brookville, fueling speculation that they have relocated to New York. And she thought the 405 was bad?

The house that the pair just listed has four bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms in 7,357 square feet. The walled and gated villa sits on three-quarters of an acre and, according to the Multiple Listing Service, has a "European ambience."

There is a detached guesthouse, a pool and pool house, gardens and pathways around the property upon which to amble, though it's hard to imagine Lopez and Anthony as amblers.

Life couldn't be more different for Jennifer Lopez since the February birth of their boy and girl, the singer and husband Marc Anthony admit.

"We're just lucky," Anthony, 40, tells PEOPLE. "Our life is designed around the twins. Everything smells better, it tastes better, it even feels better on a minute-to-minute basis. We should just enjoy this."

The couple were arm in arm at Fashion Group International's Night of Stars Event at Cipriani Wall Street in New York Thursday night. Lopez and Prince presented the award to Donatella Versace.

It was a Versace palm-leaf dress that Lopez famously wore to the Grammys in 2000, but the new mom and her husband were at odds over whether she'd slip into a similar outfit these days.

"For me, it was one of the eye-opening moments of what a dress could actually do," Lopez, 39, tells PEOPLE. "And I was on the cover of the paper the next day, because of that Versace dress. No, I'd wear it [now]."

"Maybe as a wife, she wouldn't," Anthony interjected, as his spouse laughed.

An "American Idol" runner-up, a "Superbad" breakout star and the product of one of the most famous celebrity couples of the last 20 years would seem an unlikely trio to play a band of misfits, but that's why they call it acting. Anna Faris may be the titular star of "The House Bunny," but this new twist on the "Legally Blonde" concept wouldn't get anywhere without Katharine McPhee, Emma Stone and Rumer Willis.

Faris plays Shelley, a Playboy Playmate unceremoniously booted from the mansion, only to take up with seven unpopular sorority sisters who are themselves on the verge of being kicked to the curb. MTV gathered McPhee, Stone and Willis to chat about their new film, who really is the most awkward of the three and which one just might be giving McPhee a run for a singing career.

MTV: I usually wouldn't bring an issue of Playboy to an interview, but Anna Faris is on the cover promoting the film.

Emma Stone: [Looking at the magazine] Aw, she looks adorable!

Katharine McPhee: She looks good!

MTV: Here's the big question: Where are your covers, and how angry are you that you didn't get one?

Stone: Not that angry. It makes sense. In the movie Shelley is a Playboy bunny, and it's nice to have that full circle. She's in character.

McPhee: Yeah, that's exactly her character.

Rumer Willis: It's fitting for Anna because that's who her character is. The movie is less about Playboy and Hef than about two different groups of women. Everybody thinks the popular girls don't get kicked out, but she's the ideal woman, and she gets kicked out of her house. We help each other to find our way.

Stone: She really gives us the confidence to go out and talk to people. And I think we give her confidence that there's more to her than meets the eye.

MTV: You guys really are dressed down for the first part of the film. Was that a relief?

All: Yes!

Stone: It was great! It was like three minutes in hair and makeup.

Willis: It was especially great for the two of us [gesturing to McPhee] since we were using props. [Note: Willis wears a brace through much of the film, and McPhee dons a fake pregnancy belly] It was very helpful for me to just have something else to make me feel more awkward and uncomfortable.

Stone: We already are awkward! It's nice to really explore the awkwardness, because I feel so much awkwardness inside of me. It was nice to go to the extreme with it.

MTV: Who is the most awkward person in this room?

Stone: Of the three of us?

Willis: [To Stone] You just looked at me! Wow, OK. I thought we were friends.

McPhee: I'm kind of awkward sometimes.

Stone: You are not awkward!

Willis: You are the least awkward person I've ever met.

McPhee: I feel awkward sometimes.

Stone: Everybody feels awkward, but that's one of the messages of the movie: Everyone feels like an outcast sometimes. I think the message in the end is "Embrace your inner awkward."

MTV: You all get to sing in the movie in a memorable karaoke scene. Katharine, I believe you have a musical background ...

McPhee: [Joking] A little bit.

Willis: Really?

McPhee: I do it as a hobby on the side.

Willis: Oh, cool.

MTV: Does anyone else here have musical aspirations?

Willis: No.

Stone: Yes. [Points to Rumer.]

Willis: Maybe.

McPhee: We all sang a lot on the set. I think Rumer eventually in her lifetime would like to do something with her singing.

MTV: Rumer, would you like to do an album?

Willis: Yeah. I would actually really like that. We had an opportunity to write part of a rap that's at the end of the movie, and Katharine sang. We had a great time.

McPhee: You guys did background vocals as well.

Willis: We did. It was very fun.

MTV: Katharine, what are you hoping to accomplish with your next album?

McPhee: I'm really just hoping to bring me to the record. I would like to have an authentic record that comes from the heart and is really my story and my thoughts. Not that the first one wasn't, but ...

Stone: You're over it.

McPhee: [Laughs] I'm over it. [Singing] I'm so moving on.

Katharine McPhee Debuts Video for 'I Know What Boys Like'

Katharine McPhee channels her inner sorority girl in her latest video, "I Know What Boys Like," the first single from The House Bunny soundtrack.

McPhee, 24, puts a twist on the '80s hit, sashaying in the video alongside sorority sister costars in the film, Emma Stone, Rumer Willis and Kat Dennings. The singer has long had acting ambitions before her Idol fame.

The comedy, which also stars Anna Faris as a Playboy bunny who mentors an awkward sorority, hits theaters Aug. 22.

The film's cast is set to appear on TRL Wednesday.

Katharine McPhee: 'Idol' Saved My Life

In a new interview with People magazine, the fifth season runner-up reveals that she struggled with severe bulimia for five years, bingeing, and purging in a destructive cycle that could have permanently ruined her singing voice and caused devastating consequences to her health.

At her worst, McPhee says she was making herself vomit up to seven times each day, which she equates to "putting a sledgehammer to your vocal cords."

But all that changed once the 22-year-old aspiring singer got the go-ahead from the Idol judges, and realized that in order to succeed on the talent search, she would need to rein in her eating disorder.

"When I made it onto American Idol, I knew that food--my eating disorder--was the one thing really holding me back," McPhee tells People. "I was bingeing my whole life away for days at a time...So when I got on the show, I said, 'You know what? I can do well in this competition. Let me give myself a chance and just get ahold of this thing.'"

Backed up by her parents, frequent Idol audience members Peisha and Daniel McPhee, the Idol hopeful enrolled in an intensive treatment program at Los Angeles's Eating Disorder Center Of California, where she underwent three months of group and individual therapy, spending 10 hours a day, six days a week at the center.

"I really had to surrender and give up having a free life to do the program, because I'd be there from 9 in the morning until 7 at night," McPhee says. But she knew the sacrifice was necessary if she wanted to get well.

"I knew I had put off going to a treatment center long enough--I'd been struggling with bulimia since I was 17," she says.

McPhee attributes some of her problems with food to growing up in a city where tremendous emphasis is placed on celebrity-slim bodies.

"Growing up in Los Angeles and spending all those years in dance class, I'd been conscious of body image at a young age, and I went through phases of exercising compulsively and starving myself," she says.

By using the intuitive eating approach she learned at the Eating Disorder Center, McPhee was eventually able to redefine her relationship to food.

"I learned that there's no such thing as a bad food," she says. "If you look at a doughnut, people think it's a fattening food--why? Because if you eat it you'll get fat? No, you'll get fat if you eat 10 doughnuts."

As a result, she dropped 30 pounds and broke her cycle of bingeing and purging.

"That's why I say American Idol saved my life, because if I hadn't auditioned I don't think I would have gotten a handle on food," she tells the magazine.

By openly talking about her eating disorder, McPhee stands to help fans who may be struggling with similar issues, according to Dr. Thomas Weigel, a psychiatrist at the Klarman Eating Disorders Center at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.

"Katharine's portrayal of her eating disorder and its effects on her life would tend toward helping people suffering with eating disorders to seek out treatment," Weigel said.

"She had a problem, which was affecting her career, and she went through a difficult treatment program to make progress toward recovery. It was hard work, but she fought against the eating disorder to get her life back."

And what a life it is. After the Idol finale, McPhee went on to sign a record deal with RCA Records in conjunction with 19 Recordings Limited.

Her first single, "My Destiny," coupled with "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," is scheduled for release on Tuesday. As of Thursday, the tracks were ranked number 52 in music by Amazon.com.

Though the Idol competition is officially over, McPhee's still got her work cut out for her if she hopes to catch up to Taylor Hicks, who released his first single last week and instantly rocketed to the top of the charts.



Katharine McPhee Marries Producer Boyfriend

Singer-actress Katharine McPhee married producer Nick Cokas on Saturday in Beverly Hills, her rep Justin Gray Stone confirms exclusively to PEOPLE.

The 23-year-old American Idol season five runner-up and Cokas, 42, exchanged vows in a late afternoon ceremony at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church.

"(Nick) is the love of my life," McPhee gushed to PEOPLE. "This is a once in a lifetime occasion and everything is just perfect."

McPhee wore a strapless ivory Manuel Mota gown and Neil Lane jewels (diamond and platinum chandelier earrings and diamond and platinum bracelets), while Cokas wore an Armani tuxedo. Fellow season five Idol contestants Kellie Pickler and Mandisa were among the 305 guests on hand for the nuptials.

McPhee and Cokas met in 2005 when they performed in a Los Angeles theater production of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Their union began as a friendship and blossomed when McPhee auditioned for American Idol later that year.

The two quietly got engaged last year when Cokas presented her with a custom-designed round brilliant cut platinum and diamond engagement ring.

McPhee recently wrapped filming the Anna Faris comedy I Know What Boys Like.

Anne Hathaway Breaks Follieri Silence: "The Rug Was Pulled Out From Under Me"

Actress Anne Hathaway has finally broken her silence over the June arrest of boyfriend Raffaello "Vati-Con" Follieri. She gave an interview to W magazine, on newsstands in LA and New York today. Also today Follieri pled guilty to fraud and money-laundering charges.

Hathaway showed up for the interview looking thin and was on the verge of tears for much of it.

"As soon as I found out about the arrest, I had to get on a plane to Mexico to do a press tour for Get Smart. And then I spent a week in shock at a friend's house. And then I had to go back and do more press, and I haven't stopped since."...

She's been staying at a friend's downtown since moving out of the midtown apartment she shared with Follieri, which was searched by the authorities. "I have to find a place to live," she says numbly. But then her voice catches with emotion and pools form at the corners of her eyes as she struggles to articulate her messy mix of feelings. "It's a situation where the rug was pulled out from under me all of a sudden," she says. "But just as suddenly, my friends threw another rug back under me. One said, 'Go stay at my house.' And Steve Carell [her Get Smart costar] stepped up for me during an interview when someone asked a question [about it]. He said, 'At some point you're going to have to talk about this time in your life. You don't have to do it this week. I'll take care of anything that comes your way.'

"I've been shown such kindness," she continues, wiping at an errant tear. "Not everyone gets that. A lot of people go through tough times alone."

Hathaway has less to say about the beating she's taking in the press. "What's going on is so much bigger than all that," she says. "Though it's crazy that things like that Newsweek article have become small stuff." One eyebrow arches with ironic resignation. She declares that she has no desire to correct any of the misinformation that's padded much of the scandal coverage, though a week later she sends an e-mail addressing a recent Page Six item: "I did not abandon my dog, Esmeralda, and no one had to ask me to go and get her. In fact, the day before that particular news item broke I had arranged to have her picked up and taken to my parents' apartment." (Hathaway's mother, a former stage actress, and her father, a lawyer, also live in Manhattan.) "My dad likes telling the story," the e-mail continues, "in a funny/sad sort of way, that Esmeralda was at [their] house watching herself on Access Hollywood as Nancy O'Dell or someone asked, 'Where in the world is Esmeralda?'"

Anne Hathaway had broken up with him--sort of--10 days before. Federal prosecutors were circling, interviewing his associates. And now, on the cusp of 30, Raffaello Follieri was, in a sense, back where he'd started when he moved to Manhattan from Italy five years ago: sleeping on spare beds and scrambling for investors to make his business real.

It was a shocking comedown for the charismatic entrepreneur who'd whisked his actress girlfriend around the world on chartered jets and yachts, who'd stayed in the Dorchester hotel in London, the Ritz in Paris, and the Excelsior in Rome when he wasn't home in the Olympic Tower duplex overlooking Saint Patrick's Cathedral. He'd socialized with some of the world's most powerful people. Yet Follieri was unfazed. Ever confident--a confidence man, federal prosecutors would declare when he was dragged into court the next day--Follieri felt he had only two problems on the evening of June 23, 2008: his sinuses, and arranging his 30th-birthday party for that coming Saturday night at the Villa Verde restaurant on Capri.

The spare bed this time was in the hall of his parents' Trump Tower apartment. Follieri loved the instant status that Trump Tower conferred: he'd started out with a penthouse apartment there when he could ill afford it. When he bagged his first investors, he turned the apartment over to his parents, who spoke almost no English. But now he was sharing it with them because the lease had run out on his Olympic Tower duplex and none of his past or prospective investors, or Hathaway, were inclined to pay the $37,000-a-month rent.

People to pay $14 million for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's baby photos - report

Exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins fetched $14 million, a person involved in the negotiations told The Associated Press, giving People magazine and a British tabloid joint rights to publish the most expensive celebrity pictures ever sold.

The person asked not to be named because he was not authorized to release the figure. People will feature twin babies Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in an issue to hit newsstands Monday, spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said Friday.



The money - more than double the $6 million People paid for Jennifer Lopez' twins on a March cover, according to Forbes - will go to a foundation created by Pitt and Jolie that largely focuses on helping children around the world.

It's the second time the celebrity weekly won the North American rights to the couple's first-look baby pictures, and the third time they've worked with the two magazines in exchange for a hefty donation to charity.



"We're thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People," managing editor Larry Hackett said in a statement.

People will split the bill with London-based Hello! magazine, which has worldwide rights; particulars of the division were not disclosed. People.com will unveil the first photo online Sunday evening.



Even before the babies were born July 12 in Nice, France, the speculation began over which celeb mag would come out on top of an inevitable bidding war. The couple ultimately chose to go a familiar route with its joint deal between People and Hello!, with Getty Images as the photographer and go-between.

People ponied up a reported $4 million donation for the U.S. rights to the first shots of their daughter Shiloh, now 2 years old, while Hello! obtained the British rights. And last year, the couple sold intimate shots of their son Pax, then 3 years old, to Hello! and People.



Getty Images, which was involved in the Shiloh deal, also took part this time around. In a statement, Getty co-founder and CEO Jonathan Klein said his company was "delighted that all proceeds from these stunning images will once again be donated entirely to charity."

When People the published six photos of Pitt, Jolie and baby Shiloh in June 2006, the issue moved 2.2 million copies, its biggest seller at the time going back to its 4 million-selling 9/11 special, Media Week reported at the time.

Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 44, established their foundation that year. They donated $1 million in June to The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict to help children affected by the war in Iraq. Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee's relief program for Darfur refugees.

HOLLYWOOD - Lindsay Lohan's father Michael has slammed his daughter's rumored girlfriend Samantha Ronson, over reports she is to write a tell-all book about her life with the actress.

Lindsay and Ronson have been close friends for several years and are now said to be in a relationship.

And Ronson is reportedly set to reveal intimate details of her life in a new memoir.

A source tells UK Eonline, "She's certainly telling friends she's planning to write a book. It's supposed to be about her, allegedly. But come on, you know
Lindsay will be all over that book. She's the only one people want to read about."

And the rumors have infuriated Lohan's father, who claims the DJ is just using his daughter to get her own slice of fame.

He says, "I've shut up about this long enough. She's using my daughter. People never even knew who Samantha Ronson was until she met Lindsay. She was
just some Los Angeles DJ. And now she's writing a book? I am at (my) wit's end with this stuff. This is not in Lindsay Lohan's best interest. Let's just say I hope Lindsay starts opening her eyes and realizes who the people using her are."

Lindsay Lohan rebuffs earlier lesbian relationship with Courtenay Semel.

London, Aug 26 : Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has denied that she ever had a lesbian relationship with Coutenay Semel before she began seeing DJ Samantha Ronson.

She said so while replying to a question about her alleged affair with Semel, while she was walking DJ Samantha Ronson. No, that's not true, the Mirror quoted Lohan as saying. Coutenay Semel, daughter Terry Semel, the head of internet giant search engine and portal Yahoo, had recently claimed in papers that she was Lohan's first lesbian love before she hooked up with producer Mark Ronson's sister Sam. Meanwhile, Lohan and Samantha seem to have taken their relationship a step further by meeting each other's mothers.

Lindsay's Getting a Stepmom!

Los Angeles (E! Online) - There's about to be a new woman in Lindsay Lohan's life.

Doing his part to keep the family name in the headlines, Michael Lohan has confirmed to E! News that he popped the question to longtime girlfriend Erin Muller.

"We picked out a ring, but it's not official," the 48-year-old Lohan patriarch said. But although Muller, 24, has accepted his proposal, and he's not exactly keeping the nuptial news under wraps, he says he's holding off on officially announcing the engagement until "some family issues are resolved."

Which begs the question: If confirming to a major media outlet doesn't constitute an official announcement, what does?

Lest any conspiracy theorists think tensions with his famous daughter are the family issues in question, Lohan was quick to clarify that his cancer-stricken father's failing health is "the real reason."

Not to mention that other small outstanding concern, namely his possible paternity of 13-year-old Ashley Kaufmann, allegations which surfaced earlier this year.

"We're waiting for the paternity test and my father's situation to be resolved."

The girl's mother, Kristi Kaufmann, alleged that Lohan fathered Ashley during an affair when he and Dina Lohan were briefly separated. While he has donated his DNA, the sample has yet to be processed pending the appropriate court order.

But while Michael Lohan may be holding off on an announcement, he didn't show the same restraint when it came to the ring. Muller was photographed donning the major bauble over the weekend at the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo Tournament.

Meanwhile, the elder Lohan took a timeout from touting his new leading lady to addressing a couple of others that have been around awhile.

First off, he took aim at Lindsay's steady sidekick Samantha Ronson.

"I'm not happy," Michael Lohan says. "Ever since [Lindsay] got out of rehab and all these people came back into her life, things haven't been right.

"People like Samantha Ronson don't need to be around Lindsay. She shouldn't be dragging Lindsay around nightclubs. Who was Samantha Ronson before Lindsay Lohan? She was nobody. She is using her for her own gain. All these people have inserted themselves into her life like parasites, and it's not right. I'm done with them."

As for his ex, Dina Lohan? "Dina is a kiss-ass. She's just nice to everybody, trying to be friends with everyone, just so she can be on Lindsay's good side. And it is wrong. She should be a mother first."

We're waiting to hear back from the former missus. We're sure she'll have nothing but hearty congratulations and happy thoughts for her ex.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson spent their afternoon in LA doing the usual — shopping, lunch at The Ivy, Cheez-It and cigarette run, then back to more shopping. None of the recent rumors about a maybe Michel Phelps crush, possible flirting with boys, or running into all sorts of exes seem to be getting in the way of LL and SR's relationship. In fact, the girls look closer than ever sharing an intimate moment between perusing the stores. Maybe I'm just so used to seeing Sam's scowl, but she looks pretty great here smiling at Linds right?

Lindsay, 'lover' get matching etchings

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson have had matching tattoos to signify their love for each other.

The couple - who reportedly started dating late last year - showed off black love hearts on their left hands as they arrived back in Los Angeles after spending time with Samantha's family in Miami.

Lindsay, who had a white heart inked on her hand - between her thumb and index finger - in 2006, had it outlined in black, while Samantha had an identical symbol etched onto her hand.

The Mean Girls actress also had a red star inked on her right hand, to match the red stars Samantha has tattooed on her right arm.
efore going to Miami, the couple had been to the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago, where Samantha DJed.

They were "very affectionate" and "very much in love", according to onlookers.

Lindsay and Samantha have always shared an interest in body art.

In March, the 22-year-old actress hosted a photograph exhibition in New York's Sky Terrace displaying pictures Lindsay felt matched the mood behind her tattoos. Samantha DJed at the exhibition.

Lindsay ready to take the plunge

Lindsay Lohan and girlfriend Samantha Ronson are reportedly set to marry.

The Mean Girls actress - who only recently confirmed she was in a same-sex relationship with DJ Samantha - is planning to exchange vows with her lover at a private ceremony in Los Angeles later this year, and her mother Dina has already started planning a lavish party.

A source said: "They've been keeping the relationship quiet for months and trying to pass each other off as 'just good friends'.

"But they've decided it isn't a fling, it's for life - so they want to make their romance public. Dina is still working on the date of the party but it's looking like towards the end of the year."

It is believed the nuptials could take place in November around the same time Lindsay releases her new album Spirit In The Dark.

The 22-year-old star has already bought a white Chanel mini-dress for the ceremony, while Samantha - the sister of super-producer Mark Ronson - is toying with the idea of wearing a black suit and top hat.
Friends and relatives will attend the special day, with Dina determined to make the event the perfect way to "welcome Sam into the family".

Meanwhile, Lindsay blasted a Los Angeles police chief who joked she had "gone gay" last week.

She said: "Police chiefs shouldn't get involved in everyone else's business when it comes to their personal life. It's inappropriate."

Chief William Bratton made the remark as he explained why he did not support new rules to curb paparazzi in Los Angeles.

He said: "If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving, Paris is out of town not bothering anybody - thank God - and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don't seem to have much of an issue."

Britney Spears Paying Lawyers $466,000, K-Fed's Lawyers $250,000 for Custody Battle.

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears' recently resolved custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline wasn't just messy, it was expensive.

Court documents show legal bills submitted on behalf of two law firms who represented Spears total more than $466,000. That's on top of the $250,000 the 26-year-old pop singer has agreed to pay Federline's attorneys.

The largest bill comes from attorney Stacy Phillips, who says in court filings that she is owed nearly $407,000 for four months of work. Phillips claims she has written off another $125,000 in fees.

Attorney Laura Wasser, who took over the case in June and negotiated an agreement between Federline and Spears' camp that allows the singer more time with her young sons, is seeking $60,000. She worked on the case nearly two months.

Federline retains full custody of the children, but Spears has some overnight visits.

Spears and Federline were married in 2004 and completed their divorce last July. She pays him $20,000 a month under an agreement finalized in July.

Phillips claims in court documents the case was made more complicated because Spears is under the temporary conservatorship of her father, James. He took control of his daughter's personal and financial affairs after a series of high-profile incidents of erratic behavior and two hospitalizations.

Any payments will have to be approved by a Los Angeles court commissioner, and attorneys representing Spears' and her father's interests indicated last week in court they intend to contest Phillips' bill.

And now, one year after an erratic and distracted Brit stormed out of an OK! photoshoot, a very different woman sits down to talk openly about her two adorable sons, her father and the future of her nearly sidetracked career.

Having spent her young life in the spotlight, the 26-year-old mother of two tells OK! that she hopes her boys choose not to choose a career in entertainment. "I’d love them unconditionally if they wanted to," she explains. "I’d just as soon they have a more normal childhood.

Perhaps some of Britney's reluctance comes from seeing her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, have to face so much public scrutiny over her recent pregnancy. "I was shocked a little bit," says Brit. "She’s always been the baby, and now the baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling."

The pop superstar also tells OK! that she wants her boys to be close to her newborn niece. "I’m sure the boys will be like big brothers to Maddie," she says.

In an unexpected twist, Britney's downward spiral in recent years ultimately helped to heal the bonds between the singer and her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears.

"God has a way of taking something bad and turning it into something good," explains Jamie, who also spoke exclusively to OK!. "If this hadn’t happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys."

Another positive that's risen out of her darkest days is Britney's new album, which she expects to hit stores in six to nine months. "I think it is more urban," she tells OK!. "I’m writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room... This is my best work ever."

Britney Spears' VMA silence

Britney Spears will not perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The troubled singer was believed to be making a comeback appearance at the ceremony next month - after her shambolic performance of 'Gimme More' at last year's event was slammed by critics - but her manager Larry Rudolph has now denied she will take to the stage.

Larry released a statement saying: "Contrary to media reports, Britney was never slated to perform at this year's VMAs. She's in the middle of recording her next album, which is going amazingly well, and her focus remains on the studio."

Last week, hairdresser Kim Vo spoke about a hairstyle he had planned for the 26-year-old's performance, but he has also confirmed Larry's statement.

He said: "Any ideas that we have about her hair are always theoretical. And we always have to be prepared. But she is not performing and so we don't have to worry about that."

Britney, who has never won a VMA, despite 17 nominations, is up for three accolades - Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Video of the Year, all for 'Piece of Me' - at the upcoming ceremony, which takes place on September 7 in Los Angeles.

She has also appeared in TV adverts with the show's host Russell Brand to promote the event.

Britney wants her own Reality Show

Britney Spears is reportedly set to star in a new reality TV show.

The troubled singer is set to defy the wishes of her family - including dad Jamie, who is co-conservator of her estate, and ex-husband Kevin Federline - to appear in the proposed fly-on-the-wall MTV documentary.

The proposed programme will focus on Britney's attempts to get her life and career back on track following her breakdown earlier this year.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Britney's dad is furious. He thinks it's a big mistake and doesn't want anything to do with it. But Britney thinks it will help her custody battle for her sons."

Britney's mother Lynne is said to be desperately trying to talk her daughter out of the show because she fears the 'Toxic' singer will use it as a platform to speak out before Lynne's tell-all book is published.

A worried friend of Britney - who has two sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, 23 months, with Kevin - said: "This could be the biggest car crash television moment of all time."

Britney has previously starred in an MTV reality show with Kevin, 'Britney and Kevin Chaotic' which aired in 2005.

It was cancelled after one season and mainly featured home videos the couple had made.

Britney Spears and Russel Brand Makes MTV VMA Promo

A pair of promotional videos have just been released for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and they’re quite funny. Then again, when you get Russell Brand and Britney Spears together, anything can happen.

The English actor/comedian (who was hilarious on Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and the “Gimme More” singer are the perfect pairing for the spots, which come off as mostly improvised.

In one of them, Brand, who is just coming into popularity here in the States, quizzes the “Toxic” starlet on his last name, which she can’t seem to remember.

After he informs her it’s Brand and not Brown (as she stated) Russell adds, "You will remember that name because I think pretty soon it's going to be your surname. Britney Brand."

Russell will be hosting this year’s awards and Britney may or may not be appearing. Although she is up for Best Pop Video and Best Female Video.

A year after her desastrous performance, Britney Spears is re-teaming with the MTV Video Music Awards.

She just shot a promo for the September 7th show with host Russell Brand.

The spot is "mostly ad-libbed, with Russell asking her for advice about hosting the show," a source tells E!. "There's also a 9,000-pound elephant in it, as in 'the elephant in the room.'"

MTV president Van Toffler commented on the chances of Britney perfoming: "Everyone deserves a second or third chance ... who knows?"
